EC okays new pay package for Grade III, IV RIMS staff

RANCHI: The Election Commission (EC) on Wednesday granted its nod for extension of the sixth Pay Commission recommendations to the Grade III &
IV employees of the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS ).

The state government had withheld the payment of their enhanced salary and arrears in view of the model code of conduct that is in effect in the state.

In wake of the development, RIMS employees are expected to call off their ongoing strike. However, the junior doctors would stage dharna to protest omission of their names from the list of beneficiaries. The call for agitation was given by the RIMS Junior Doctors Association (JDA) to protest the anomaly.

A JDA member, Kundan, regretted that the junior doctors had been sidelined when it came to extending the pay revision benefits to them. During previous agitation, RIMS authorities had agreed to implement the residency scheme in the college in favour of the junior doctors.

"Under the residency scheme, pay revision is automatically implemented in favour of government doctors. It is strange that the names of PG doctors have not been included in the list of sixth Pay Commission beneficiaries," he said. The JDA has decided to sit on dharna before the director's office from 10 in the morning. Furthermore, it has threatened to intensify its stir in case the matter is not pursued by the RIMS management in the right earnest. Source:timesofindia.indiatimes.com
